Readiness Checklist for Kids Ages 4-6

Children develop at different rates and have different personalities. Our camps are outdoor group camps with up to 12 kids outdoors with 2 adults, while we endeavor to give everyone individual attention, some younger children might still need lower ratios of children to teachers outdoors. Please assess if your child is ready for our 4-6 combo age group programs.

We also ask that if your child is not used to peeing in nature, that you help them get used to that before camp. While most of our base-camps have facilities, we do not have bathrooms close when we are out on hikes.

Before registering, please make sure that your child:

  • Is fully potty trained and does not have accidents usually during day time hours

  • Can go to the toilet independently

  • Can carry a small backpack on a hike for 30minute stretches

  • Is able to put on their shoes and socks independently and change their shorts or pants if need be

  • Is able to follow simple expectations such as staying behind the instructor on hikes and coming to our call

  • Is able to participate as part of a group, not needing an adults individual attention for extended periods of time

If you are not sure if your child can do these things or if your child has other special needs, please do not hesitate to contact us.
